Vanessa Perea

Vanessa is a NYC-based jazz vocalist. She embodies the tradition of the masters, with a beautiful sound, sweeping range and heavy swing feel. She began her musical journey with school and church choirs, piano lessons and classical voice lessons. In high school, she was involved in musical productions, more choirs, dance, drama and anything performance related. In a desire to continue pursuing her passion for music, Vanessa attended New Jersey City University where she studied with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist, Roseanna Vitro, and operatic-soprano Donna Connolly graduating with a BA in Music Education.
With her excitement for music propelling her into the “scene” she began performing with numerous bands and jazz greats including George Cables, Dwayne Burno, Pasquale Grasso, Adam Birnbaum, Joe Magnarelli, Emmet Cohen, and Alex Smith (accompanist to Lady Gaga).
Vanessa lives in NYC and can be seen performing, hanging out or sitting in at NYC’s finest jazz clubs such as, Smalls, Mezzrow, Swing 46, Birdland and The Django. She has three albums to her name “Play Date”(2019), “Home Life” (2021), a pandemic project recorded in her NYC home with husband and trombonist, Robert Edwards, “It Had To Be You” (2022), and newest album, “This Is The Moment” coming soon.
